I have finally moved my way off tar, scp, rsync and whatnot and moved to bacula. My first impressions are "why did I wait so long" anyways a few question..
Will bacula safely backup imap directories (cyrus-imapd)? I always thought it was wise to stop the cyrus server for backups. I have this set up and matter of fact just did my first full backup of 4 machines. I did these from " / " down. My other partition is /boot and a few others depending on the machine. If my understanding of the way FileSets work bacula will not grab my /boot partition or others. Is this correct? If so "In theory" (as much as I hate to say that) if my root file system on one of my 'client' machines got rm -rf * except for /boot let say, a restore from the bacula-sd would solve this? Until I have a free machine just wondering, has anyone tried such a thing? I have read some of the disaster recovery how-to and will look into setting up a 'bare metal recovery but until then I am wondering how far users have taken it. The furthest test for me was moving my home dir and restoring it. thanks bc -- [email protected] mailing list
