Is you kernel compiled with ide floppy support? Try modprobe ide-floppy and
see what happens. If it doesn't work, check your kernel config and
recompile the kernel if needed.

Thanks for the reply. I compiled ide-floppy support directly into the kernel instead of making it a module. I will try to recompile as a module instead to see what happens.
