I would look into creating an ebuild. It is almost equivalent to typing the 
commands you mentioned. AFAIK there is no other way to get it into portage. 
If you look at the example /usr/portage/skel.ebuild it is pretty much what 
you need, just edit the descriptions and source URI. I would suggest looking 
into setting up a portage overlay for your new ebuild. Create 
/usr/local/portage and then add "PORTDIR_OVERLAY" in /etc/make.conf to point 
to it. Pick a category, better pick an existing one, and then setup your 
ebuild as the others.
