You *could* try checking the list to see if it appeared there.  The fact
that somebody did reply to your earlier posting would very probably
indicate that your message was visible.

Generally I reply to the list itself so that others reading the list or
searching the archives find the answer as well, and it's presumed that
the original questioner is seeing list postings and doesn't want to see
them twice.

It doesn't work very well; it's still pre-alpha quality.  Try doing an
"emerge unison" to get something that does a better job.

Intermezzo has kernel hooks that should immediately catch any changes and
replicate them to the other system, while unison has to be run periodically
and does everything in userspace.  Unison tends to actually work, while
Intermezzo tends to fall over on its face after awhile.

I'm still tracking Intermezzo development; it should be a wonderful thing
when and if it ever gets stabilized.

Intermezzo is very Linux-specific, while Unison works on just about any
flavour of Unix and even has a Windows flavour.
