For my old notebook, I was forced to use Knoppix as a boot CD for my Gentoo installation. Knoppix has an excellent hardware detection, you could try to use it as a basis for your installation (but of course, YMMV). > The next problem is that Windows XP doesn't let me install Partition > Magic 5.
