It is clearly not the compiler, but the kernel.
Got back to 2.4.19, emerged nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx (with gcc-3.2.2), everything back to normal. Should be checked though ...

Hi,
Upgraded yesterday to gcc-3.2.2 and gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r1.
Recompiled alsa and nvidia-kernel/nvidia-glx.
Can't get nvidia driver working any more, I guess it has to do with the compiler. Unfortunately, X just refuses to start and doesn't log any specific errors.
This is what I see in /proc/driver/nvidia:
# cat /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/0
Model: GeForce3
IRQ: 17
Video BIOS: ??.??.??.??.??
Card Type: AGP
cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/card
Fast Writes: Not Supported
SBA: Not Supported
AGP Rates: 4x 2x 1x
Registers: 0x1f000007:0x00000000
cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/host-bridge
Host Bridge: AMD 760MP
Fast Writes: Supported
SBA: Supported
AGP Rates: 4x 2x 1x
Registers: 0x0f000217:0x00000200
cat /proc/driver/nvidia/version
NVRM version: NVIDIA Linux x86 nvidia.o Kernel Module 1.0-4191 Mon Dec 9 11:49:01 PST 2002
GCC version: gcc version 3.2.2
(this is after trying the latest version form nVidia, the older gentoo emerge gave more or less the same result)
Has anyone had the same after upgrading to gcc-3.2.2 ?
Mainboard is a Gigabyte GA-7DPXDW, tried a GeForce3 ultra and a GeForce4 MX, both give the same result.
I would like to try with the previous version of gcc. How can I re-install it without destroying the latest?
Thanks!
