well i don't know about ffmpeg (seems kinda odd that it wouldn't though) but 
i'm running 2.4.19

now that doesn't make sense, since i have a limit of 4gb files on my win98se 
box.  the file was being processed from the fat32 partition and saved to my 
ext3 partition and it gagged at exactly 2gb.  that's what so weird about it, 
in both cases it gagged at exactly 2gb.
