1) Have you thought about "rc-update add wlan ..."? 2) I assume you have the reason to use different wlancfg-xxx settings, otherwise, wlancfg-DEFAULT should work with any AP. Like I use different channel at home that at school, I just comment out CHANNEL. A suggestion: How about messing with wireless.opts file? Maybe there are options that could achieve what you have in mind.
