This is incredible!!! why would you want to go for kde or gnome instead of ms-windows? well the answer is so obvious and soo long that I dont want to go about that. And I will be damned if somebody cant figureout how to install gnome or kde on gnetoo!!!!! I mean its SO easy that a perticular kind of geeks will hate it for being so easy!!. And well.. they seldom cause problem
Its amazing to me how a lot of users stay loayal to the window manager they once start liking (this is not meant in sarcastic tone). Even after the software itself has stopped being maintained. I think its because they have lost the appetite of learning new things... no matter how easy they are. This is a very bold statement for my small self to make to all you genuises out there using classic wms but this is the most convincing theory I could come up with. Ironically as new software come.. they become more and more easy to learn. These are my rather bold 2 cents. And finally (arn't rants annoying, why do we always read them, i mean really, why do i care what makes a geek happy, who is passably on the other side of the planet!............cause I am a geek myself!! ;) ) Spundun On Fri, 2003-03-14 at 19:11, Nicholas Hockey wrote: > well, my solution would be, remove that bloated annoying piece of crap. > and install a simple window manager =) > > oh and all of you can flame me if you like but i will never like that > bloated, non-standard, annoying, breaks at random for no apparent > reason, ugly (if i wanted a windows interface i would install windows), > non portable (i don't care what you say c++ compiler are so nonstandard > trying to get kde to compile on Linux is a chore, and it's the OS it > was designed on!) > > and then there is gnome, the only thing that if fun about that is the > fact that if yer a geek, and have 14-18 hours a day free, it keeps yah > busy trying to figure out what part, of what piece, of it's weird jigsaw > like scheme of 100000000 different lil pieces is causing your lil > problem > > for gods sake why can there just be a window manager that looks nice, is > easily configurable, and does what i want, gives me a menu and a way to > manipulate windows......
