Hello all,

I've been going through the gentoo virtual mail howto and can't seem to
get past the courier-imap section. I can recieve mail directly through
my maildir directory, but when I try the pop or imap setups, I keep
getting login failed errors.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I put in my correct user password. I
believe that the courier-imapd, courier-imapd-ssl, courier-pop3d and
courier-pop3d-ssl daemons are supposed to check the /etc/passwd (or
/etc/shadow) file(s) to authorize, so it should let me connect with my
normal login/password, right?
If it helps, I am using evolution as my mail client, which appears to be
sending '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' as the login.
Is this an evolution bug, or are the server daemons correctly
translating this to just 'josh'?
My /etc/postfix/main.cf, /etc/postfix/master.cf are just like they are
in the howto. All of the steps have been followed exactly. I have been
trying this for days and banging my head against the wall. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
josh
