There's seems to be some problem with mozilla and Sun's jdk (I think it's compiled with an old gcc version). I finally managed to make them work after the advice of some kind Gentooers :o)

What I did: emerge sun-j2sdk, then emerge mozilla. Basically, when you emerge sun-j2sdk instead of sun-jdk you are compiling yourself all the jdk (correct me if I'm wrong) and compiling some special mozilla headers. After that you only have to emerge mozilla with java support enabled (check your USE variable) and be sure that you set sun-j2sdk as your main vm with java-config. That should do the job.

    Hope this helps,

Hi all,

how can I install the Java plugins into Mozilla 1.2.1? I've created symlinks named libjavaplugin.so in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins to the different plugin binaries from Sun's jdk 1.4.1.02 and Blackdown 1.3.1, but none of them works. (I've tried only one at a time). The NS4 plugins at least show up in the list of plugins, but garbaged characters make me believe that it wouldn't work properly. The other plugins don't even show up.

Any ideas/hints/recommendations? Your help is greatly appreciated. Regards,
