You are in luck!! I played QII on windows years ago. Gentoo has Q2, Q3 engines in it. In fact this weekend I merged quake2, copied all my Windows quake directory from my Win2K box and started blasting away! Merge Quake, then use the files from the CD - I just copied by entire baseq2 directory to ~/.quake/baseq2.

If you have an Nvidia card - check the FAQ part of the readme. I had to set some parameters for the quake2 command line. Now I have icons for Quake 2 original, Ground Zero and The Reckoning on my xfce desktop!

Hi,
At $14.95 for Quake Platinum Edition at Fry's today, I was thinking about
getting a copy for my son to keep him busy for the summer. (Or part of it
anyway.) What is the status of playing any Windows games under Gentoo Linux?
Is there a good site for finding out about this sort of stuff?

Probably will be easier to make the machine dual boot, but I don't want
him using Windows on my network at home...

Thanks,
Mark
