Alan & Brett, Thanks for the info. Turns out it was Half Life and not Quake, which is cool because I've played that less.
I've heard about the Transgaming folks before when checking out Wine. (I ran Quicken 2001 for a while under Linux.) Good to know there may be a way to get some of this working.
