I generally to emerge -u system --fetchonly only in cron 
and then run the emrrge manually. there is just to mucht oupdate on world ./. and if 
it's working .. why mess with it.
I would kill for a security update tho .. so I can ONLY run security updates needed 
... not even system 
unless there is something major wrong like a bug or feature I've been waiting for ..
