Yes, you can do this.  Don't do it, though.  /dev is rebuilt automagically 
when your system boots AFAIK.  Also, deleting /dev while your box is running 
could mean mass FS corruption, but that's just my guess (seeing as how your 
system won't understand where all the harddrives went).
