Mixing is important... if I'm playing an mp3, I'd still like to be able to hear my IM alarms. Maybe I've never had the plain sound drivers set up correctly to do this, but when I switched to using arts, everything worked seamlessly. I've never had a problem with arts, no skipping, no special priorities, no configuration tricks. It essentially worked out of the box on my 800 mhz laptop. It always seems to me that experience with arts is highly personal. What works for some doesn't work for others. KDE in general has really impressed me. I used to be a diehard fluxbox fan, then switched to Gnome 2.2, then to KDE 3.1. I think they're doing a fantastic job (Gnome too). Wes -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
