I have this sense that people overabuse the "world" target :-/ if you had followed the announcement as well as the following and initiating discussion you'd have noticed that apache-2.x did make it into stable gentoo, but that we do not force 1.3, and that apache 1.3 series will remain in the tree as well as be interoperable and maintained.
