Brian, I don't believe this is specifically an Alsa problem. I have sound running. I can play CDs using alsaplayer. I can run Jack and Jack applications and have no major problems getting sound. I can play some games and get sound from them. I was really trying to see if I was doing something incorrect with setting up xmms as I've never used that application for anything.
