It seems a shame that nvidia just acknoledge the problem, as opposed to 
supplying a kernel framebuffer that gets along with their driver, or include 
framebuffer support with their driver. Don't get me wrong although the nvidia 
drivers taint the kernel i really appreciate the work they do in supporting 
even their newest GPU's under linux and BSD (I have a FX 5900 and it works 
just fine), but this is a problem that is v. annoying, as well as one that 
has been hanging around for ages.
  Maybe a concerted effort by all effected may convince nvidia to have a go at 
fixing this ??
