Well as I mentioned, the liveCD boots flawlessly.  At this point I would
love to just copy the damn kernel from the liveCD...

And I did reset BIOS to defaults; I also removed that second eth card I
mentioned; also tried mem=nopentium; same results still :/

Well, that gives me hope. :)

What kernel did you build, and with what options?
