I totally agree with you - as long this great distro is what it is, I 
would pay for it like you would.

But what the OP wanted to know is: What happens to his donated money? 
And I must say, I can understand why he wanted to know. I mean, Karl, 
your example is fine, but actually you know what happens to your 
money in Germany (they build more and more highways :)), and he wants 
to know as well I think...

All in all, it's not a must, but I think everyone who wants to donate 
something would be glad if (s)he would know what happens with the 
money.
