Hello group-

I am trying to install Gentoo 1.4 from the x86 LiveCD.
I have a Pentium 4 2.66ghz system, 1GB RAM, with a 3ware Escalade 7500-4port IDE RAID card.
Is there any way to get the 3w-xxx driver on here?
I would prefer to not have to install gentoo in a chroot on another system, and tftpboot, or anything like that, if at all possible.

I have searched the forums, but all I can find are references to things such as "3ware cards are well supported in Linux" etc.
But how do you install Gentoo with a 3ware card if there is no driver included? The 1.4 LiveCD uses a weird kernel-2.4.21-gss, (which I can't find in the distfiles btw, except for patch-2.4.21-pre8-gss) so how do I compile the module to work with the installer? Can I download a "stock" 2.4.21 kernel, and apply all the patches in the patch-2.4.21-pre-gss, and it will work with the LiveCD kernel?
I have installed RedHat, Mandrake, etc with 3ware cards before with no problem, as well as *BSD.
I have only installed Gentoo a few times now however, and not yet with 3ware cards.

Any help appreciated. TIA.
