Well part of the problem is I can't find the same kernel as the livecd uses.
It is 2.4.21-gss. Looking through the livecd itself there are no kernel sources.
The distfiles directory on gentoo mirrors only has the aforementioned 2.4.21-pre8-gss patches tarball. I am not sure if I can use these patches on a kernel.org 2.4.21 kernel.
Surely I can't be the first person wanting to install on a 3ware card. Is there no precompiled module available, on a bootdisk perhaps?

I have installed RedHat, Mandrake, etc with 3ware cards before with no problem, as well as *BSD. I have only installed Gentoo a few times now however, and not yet with 3ware cards.
