Ron, Put Gentoo in its own partitions and then under Mandrake modify lilo.conf basically duplicating the Mandrake setup but using the Gentoo partition numbers. It should be pretty straight forward as long as you already are dual boot with Mandrake and Win XP. You might consider switching from lilo under Mandrake to grub under Gentoo.
