I had the same problem when I tried to open the mp3 stream. I got no
indication that anything happened when I clicked the link so I
clicked it again.... and again. so when the buffers filled up I had 3
streams at the same time about 5 seconds apart.
kill is my friend ;-)
typing RUSH beats the heck out of not seeing any output then having to
wonder just which instance of mplayer you should kill.
Typing my alias gives me all the ouput I need to see what's
happening. This is especially handy when some commercials are
playing. not all commercials can be streamed due to some rules
somewhere so you get some dead air. If you keep your xterm open, you
get to see that you haven't lost the stream.
Note to my bleeding heart liberal friends: If you find some pinko
radio show you want to listen to all you need is the URL Do:
mplayer http:/bleedingheart.pinkos.URL.com/clintoncooladedrinker and
you're good to go.
