Hi all, I'm still in the 20th century here in Alabama and I don't have a high speed internet connection. Can the gentoo distribution realistically be maintained with a slow connection? I do have access to a high speed connection with a cd burner, but it's a 40 minute round trip. Any input from those who have tried it? Thanks.
I do it through a 33.6 dial-up. Most of the time, I just leave the internet connected overnight. I do a 'emerge sync && emerge -upDf world' to let it download all the new files. Then in the morning I do 'emerge -upD world' to see what it wants to install, then 'emerge -uD world'. The files were already downloaded the night before, so download time isn't really an issue.
