I will send you the complete setup I used to get this card working later
today.

Today I built the gentoo-gaming kernel as a completely new kernel on my
machine (ATTN: Fred Clausen) ;-) and then proceeded to bring up 3D
acceleration on a Radeon 7500. I documented this and sent it to Florian
off list as it is quite long and possibly not of interest for most
people here. However, if people on the list want me to forward that here
I'd be happy to do so. Just let me know.

I have not heard yet from Florian as to whether it worked, so possibly
it would be best to make sure I didn't have too many documentation
mistakes before it gets distributed. (If it gets distributed!) ;-)

Hi Mark,
thx for your efforts!!
Up to now i couldn't use your docs.
I had no luck in the end with my first installation. Finally i got locked out of the system, the kernel wont boot anymore, i still have no idea if i and how i caused that. After some unsuccessful attempts to get the right image back i decided to do a complete reinstall, as the xfree problem got meanwhile so annoying - all that stuff should be no problem at all with my hardware -
So i reinstalled (from stage3 because i need my laptop the next days urgently) and everything is fine.
I do the 3D and drm stuff when i am back from the sprint next monday. You will hear from me!
:-)

Cheers,
Flo
