-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hey Kwame:
Hate to tell you this but Gentoo already fulfilled its quota of Suse converts to Gentoo this year. Try next year. Now, if you really want to use Gentoo, you can say your are a Windows user. There are no quotas for them:) Seriously, give Gentoo a try. I used Red Hat a little off and on for a year. When I decided to give Gentoo a try, I was nervous about the installation too. They were ill founded. If you start from Stage 3, it takes roughly one and a half hours to get a working system. The instructions manual online for the install is excellant. It did take me a couple of tries but that was because of my mistakes, not the manuals. I technically had it working on the second attempt but the X-windows looked funny so I thought I installed it wrong. I installed Gentoo a third time and got the same funny x-windows looked funny so I went and asked for help at the from the local linux support group. Turns out that x-windows always looks like that. I installed Gentoo successfully. Plan on devoting 48-72 hours to compiling all the programs and applications that you would need. My poor notebook was on nonstop during that time but it survived. I am now using Linux 99.999 percent of the time. Good luck. - -- Kevin Miller, Jr. Masters of Public Affairs, Comparative and International Affairs, Information Systems, and Nonprofit Management, School of Public and Environmental Affairs Indiana University - Bloomington http://www.amerasianworld.com [EMAIL PROTECTED] mobile: 812-219-5047 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/mYMsP2TQUAjSykARAlcpAJ4gmTvJQYC8wLUl5YtTsrTFpKxugQCfUZlS FYx1pZKB0DeQb8JP/FxwpyI= =io9m -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
