While installing, my build will inevitably die while trying to make binutils. I've tried the 686 and Athlon cd's, changed the settings in make.conf and attempted to start from all three stages (it dies while trying to build X during stage 3).
I get the impression that it's a compiler optimization setting error but I haven't found the magic configuration. I have an Athlon 1Ghz processor but I'm not sure if it's an XP or not.
