gcc-config (I believe) checks your /usr/lib/gcc-lib/ folder for entries. In my 
case, gcc-config --list-profiles returned:

[1] i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.2.2
[2] i686-pc-linux-gnu-3.3.2

Is gcc emerged correctly? I did not have to do anything to make this work like 
this - "it just did".
