in a non technical way I will go for a graphical login like kdm, gdm or xdm, 
that also prevents a user from using the 'complicated' console. Then logging 
out of X, using the normal exit / logoff button or by pressing 
Ctrl+Alt+Backspace will give you the login back. And as others have pointed 
out: to be a bit more secure you can prevent the virtual console switching by 
putting DontVtSwitch in your XF86config.
