if it complains about glibc
how do I know? I checked /var/log/messages, but didn't see anthing.

re-emerge to update mount & Cie... maybe binutils and baselayout
So, should I try:
emerge -C binutils
emerge -C baselayout
emerge binutils
emerge baselayout

I'd like to get back into Gentoo(I've devoted many hours-years), but since I can't boot I'm using Windows. I'd rather devote my time to learning Java(at least it makes sense) than learning the quirks of Gentoo. Linux rocks!!! Linux' apps rock!!! Updating packages sucks!!!

Thanks,
Ben

Hi all,
My init process is freezing after the above line is output to the
screen. The only thing I can think that I've done since the last boot
is emerged autofs, but I haven't even added it to the startup scripts
yet. Could this be affecting it? There's nothing wrong with the disk,
cause I can mount it with knoppix.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ben

last time this happened to me, i had (argh!) downgraded glibc.

try booting as single user, and mount /proc yourself
if it complains about glibc, that's it, but i can't remember what i
re-emerged to update mount & Cie... maybe binutils and baselayout ?

Azhdeen
