Anyway Linux, by design, use almost all free memory for cache, this memory is back to system when is necessary. It's a way to obtain better performance.

You know, the previous thread regarding caches in memory taking up all
the space prompted me to check on my newly installed 1GB of ram (from
256MB).  To my surprize, only 386264 kb were reported by free :(

I'm recompiling the kernel right now.


Now Gentoo is beginning to scare me.  Her MLs are answering my questions
