I have a big problem and am going nuts trying to fix it. I installed Gentoo 1.4 onto my laptop. The laptop is a Gateway 450SX4. The fans dont kick on so my laptop powers itself down because it overheats. It works fine in Windows but not in Gentoo.
I have tried:
Checked for ACPI support in the kernel
(fan is module but the ACPI wont load in the kernel)
i used "modprobe fan" (didnt work)
I even did " nano /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.4 acpi fan (didnt work)
I emerged ACPI ( i dont know what to do from here)
Please help me so that i can enjoy gentoo :) Thanks
