If you don't have yet installet gentoo on your pc but you still have XP and it works, then you should boot XP in prompt mode (just jump continuosly on the F8 key at boot time) and then entere the command FIXMBR. I'm not sure about the syntax of the command, you can check it typing HELP at the prompt.
