Hi all,
I remember years ago I was MOST impressed on learning that rpm made it possible,
with one command, to fix file permissions of all files installed by rpm on the system back to what they originally where (very useful if one absentmindedly does things
like chown -R user.user .* or copies files from one partition to another with the wrong options).
Is there anything in the gentools package that will allow us to do this ?
As far as I know, no. Portage does not keep track of the permissions that a certain file were installed with. The only solution is just to re-emerge the package.
