Yes I have experienced this issue using Juk with KDE. In my case, when I use xmms the issue goes away (i.e. all jerkiness goes away in almost every situation). Also, I have problems when I try to run another app that requires access to /dev/dsp such as mplayer, and in many cases when artsd is running it fails to see it as free. I gather it's because of arts, and I kill the process which fixes the situation. However, this doesn't happen all the time.
