Get a Plextor combo DVD+-RW drive. for dvd player compatibility with various -+r/rw disc formats, look up your player on dvdrhelp.com. If you can afford it, i recommend the external 1394 version (pick up a <$30 1394+usb2 card if you don't have 1394 from somewhere like neutronexpress.com) as that makes life easier when moving from one computer to the next without dismantling things. also, 1394 is preferred over usb2 for stability. > Also, has anyone heard anything about when those nifty new dual-layer > burners that can burn both layers of a DVD up to 9GB will be commercially > available and how much they will run for? They may come out this year but they'll be first generation for their type, need initially expensive discs and from the sound of it they may even need careful arranging of data or long fixation times when writing to more than one layer. i'd avoid them for a couple years until the multi-layer r/rw standards, hardware and software problems settle down. I just got my px-708uf and my first dvd+rw is about to eject. time to find out if my player likes it... 8) -g -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
