http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24991 tune2fs -O ^dir_index /dev/hda7 There has been a problem arising for some people when emerging perl. Some people are suggesting the command above, assuming I understand correctly translating the suggestion to my system where / is /dev/hda7. Is this safe and sane? I guess it's turning off hashed b-trees for my whole disk? Is this the right thing to do? And should I turn it back on after doing the emerge? This all seems very dangerous to me.
