Many moons ago, the docs recommended reiserfs. So, in a sense, it *was* the default. But that's history and not in the current documentation. Looks to me like Namesys is more lazy than dishonest, but I don't know anything about the exchange between Namesys and Gentoo. So take my character analysis for what it's worth. (Nothing!
