There are two possibilities to get your ATI card working: Use the Xorg/DRI or the proprietary ATI drivers. With the proprietary ATI drivers, you get: + Working 3D/OpenGL support + Support for the power management features of some cards - No support suspend or hibernate - Expect troubles when switching to console and back to X11 - Expect some hassles when using radeonfb With the opensoure Xorg drivers, you get: - No working 3D/OpenGL support yet (for any Radeon >9200, IIRC) + Supports suspend or hibernate + No troubles switching to console and back to X11 + Works together with radeonfb + Support for the power management features of most cards ATI says these topics will be fixed in an upcoming release, but that's another story... Some links which might be of any use: Rage3D Forum. It's read by some ATI developers, which answer question and give some insights from time to time. http://www.rage3d.com/board/forumdisplay.php?f=88 Unofficial ATI bugtracker http://ati.cchtml.com/ Regards, Jens -- BOFH excuse #227: Fatal error right in front of screen. -- [email protected] mailing list
