OSS shouldn't be used if possible.

First of all, I'd try to disable arts. Not forever maybe, but 
for the first tests.

I'm not familiar with OSS, but I'd try to use ALSA.

I guess your card has MIDI sounds on board so you do not need 
timidity.

Perhaps it's a good idea to subscribe the linux audio user 
list.
