Will get the same thing about Xscreensaver with xfce4 if you try to lock the screen without first emerging Xscreensaver (or at least I did). Granted it is nice, lightweight, and fast. I agree with Robert, if the wm has a lock screen option on it's default menus it should include xscreensaver as one of it's dependencies.
