Sure there is. The libraries for each package differ. They really need to be kept in sync so that the tools match the server. Do we install mysql client tools for a different version of mysql [as an example]?
Plain and simply put, these need to be synced or a solution that includes matching binaries should be considered [as an example, freebsd server ports ALWAY include the client tools, so the client tools are not needed to be rebuilt ... and even if they did need to be rebuilt, the versions match].
