Well, as I'm the one that ended up having to fix most of pvdabeel's mess, I'd say I'm in a pretty good position to comment on that one. Theoretically I'm the osx "QA manager", so knowing whether or not the thing has been done totally wrong is one of my jobs... If you want to see how it should have been done, take a look at the Gentoo/*BSD work.
