Thenj you'll need the external alsa-driver package, plus
alsa-lib and - optionally - alsa-utils.
Alsaconf is in alsa-utils, so I recommend to install
alsa-utils.

> Greetings and thx, Matthias
Skype pros:
* Good audio quality, even on low bandwidth connections
* ease of use
* widely spread
Skype cons:
* proprietary protocol
* as soon they have a significant market share, the client
will probably not be free
* Therefore: political reasons
There are three protocols:
H323 (old)
SIP (current)
Skype (proprietary)
As long it is possible, I'd like to support free standards
like SIP. Linphone is not the only client using SIP, there
are much more.
Best regards
