I need some tips on setting up a local lan web server.

I'm used to doing this on Fedora test releases where if I install the
httpd package I get the full setup ready to go (almost)

It ends up like this on the fs:
  /var/www/cgi-bin
  /var/www/html/ base of web pages

Apache will be installed and a sample config in place.

I'm not particularly wedded to that setup or any other.. I'd just like
to get it done and have a lan server in place.
I'll not need much in the way of security since I'm behind a firewall
and nothing but 192.168.0.0 will have access.

This only gets really limited use.. A couple of learning CD books I
have. The O'reilly sets for perl and networking. And a few other
things need to be visible to all my machines (6) on home lan.

Its really just my wife and I, our children are well grown. 3 of the
machines are dedicated to graphic use (winXP).

So to quit being a windbag and cut to the chase: Is there a preferred
or default setup that can be aquired with a few emerges? Can someone
outline a normal gentoo setup. I don't really need config help (I
hope) just want to see how folks set it up in the file structure and
what packages do most of the work for me.
