Do you need to add any patch or install other things to enable the composite support? Thanks!
None that I know of. You will need compositing support in your window manager. I know Xfce's WM (xfwm4) already has it as of the 4.2 release candidates. I'm not certain aboug GNOME (Metacity) or other WMs however. If your WM does not have a compositor, then you can use the composite manager that's an addon to X.org:
