Using my friends Debian machine yesterday and his terminals had a "better" transparency than mine. Gnome-terminal, Eterm and Aterm all refreshed their transparency when moving the terminals around, whereas on my box I have to drop the terminal before the transparency updates. He also informed me that the terminals had the same behaviour when using Gentoo, by default.
