Someone had a problem with long delays making dirs when emerging LO 3.x.x (sorry, I didn't keep the msgs in the thread).
Having updated to icu-51.1 , I needed to remerge LO , so took the opportunity to upgrade to the latest testing 4.0.2.2 (I use stable pkgs for System, but testing for reliable apps). It took 1 h 11 m , used c 2,2 GB RAM (net) & 2,47 GB temporary disk : the last is a big improvement, as it used to use >= 3,5 GB . I noticed it making a lot of dirs at the start, but very fast. Afterwards, LO opened one of my regular spreadsheets w/o any problem. My CPU is 'AMD Bulldozer X4 FX-4170 4-Core 4,2 GHz 8 MB'. I use kernel 3.8.5 & have all the relevant dirs on an SSD with Reiser 3 .
